Julia Leyland is a British born actress with Italian and Polish Heritage. Julia’s love of acting began over 25 years ago with many performances in local theatres including the Epsom Playhouse. She performed all through school whilst enjoying summer classes at Laine Theatre Arts and her Theatre studies A’level.
At age 18 Julia left the stage to travel the world and then went on to gain a 2:1 in Psychology at City University. After University she travelled some more then completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Roehampton University. Julia then taught in Primary schools for 10 years, she specialized in Speaking and Listening and Drama, directed many school productions and set up and ran after school Drama clubs.
Although Julia loved teaching her passion for performing never left and eventually the pull to Act was too strong and so she left the safety of her teaching post to follow her heart and her life’s dream.
Since leaving 6 years ago Julia has attended many acting classes at various institutions, including The Met Film School and The Actors Studio with leading acting and voice coach Mel Churcher. In 2014 Julia enrolled in the acting school A.M.A.W, set up by LA coach and Backstage Winner Anthony Meindl and spent 3 years training in the Master class in London.
Julia has appeared in many independent films, she recently wrapped on two feature films, Silent Night, which has secured international sales to Netflix and Glamour, currently in post-production. Just before Christmas she worked on dark period drama short The Wick, alongside actor Ian Reddington, which has just been accepted to a number of festivals. She has appeared in TV shows on CBS and Sky Television and many high profile TV commercials. Julia has great comic timing and a love of comedy and recently co-created an online comedy sketch channel called Name That Film.
