Richard P. Peralta is a Filipino-American actor, singer, voiceover artist, writer, and presenter with experience on stage and screen in both the US and UK. Most recently Richard was ensemble in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus at the Sheffield Crucible in 2020, where he was also in residency for Showstopper! The Improvised Musical in 2019. American English as their native language, including regional US accents, Richard is conversational in Filipino/Tagalog and American Sign Language.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri with a passion for performing since a young age after winning the regional Warner Brothers acting competition, Richard began performing at The St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre (The Muny) for four seasons before beginning theatre studies at DePaul University in Chicago. Having taken a hiatus, Richard served in the fields of higher education, counselling, and social justice education before finding his way to the UK for a second Masters in psychology. Here his first role back was an eleventh hour casting as Mark Cohen to save Halifax Playhouse’s production of RENT in 2019. Richard’s training continued in the UK with three years of Meisner studies and short courses at Mountview in London.
In addition to acting Richard writes for stage and screen with aspirations of performing his own work, much like Michaela Coel, whilst committed to creating more opportunities and roles for fellow artists of Colour, Disabled artists, Queer artists, immigrants, and others from the working class. Richard also enjoys gardening, science fiction, videogames, dance, and coaching/playing rugby. They split their time between the US and UK for work and family.
